London Olympics: Britain's Kit Unveiled

{jcomments on}London: The team kit which will be worn by British athletes at the London Olympics and Paralympic Games has been unveiled here.

The kit was revealed at the Tower of London where over 30 athletes showcased the performance range including competition kit, training wear, the presentation suit, footwear and accessories.

According to the British Olympic Association (BOA), the kit, designed by acclaimed British designer Stella McCartney, is the most comprehensive range that has ever been supplied to a national team combining the best in performance technologies and standout British style.

Over two years in the making, McCartney's design of the kit focussed on the British flag, breaking down the iconic design and reconstructing it, creating a modern and contemporary twist.

"It was important for me to stay true to that iconic design but also to modernise it and present it in a contemporary way.

"Ultimately, we wanted the athletes to feel like a team and be proud with the identity we created," said McCartney was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Team GB and Paralympics GB will compete in the first home Games for over 60 years as the largest, best prepared, best equipped, best supported and most ambitious group of elite players, the BOA said. (IANS)
