Moga: India continued with their winning streak in the second World Cup Kabaddi, as the hosts on Friday thrashed neighbour Nepal 67-21 at Dhudike, Moga. Meanwhile, UK beat Afghanistan 68-13 and Canada beat Australia 51-39.
In the first match of the day, defending champions India started full throttle from the word go and the hosts’ riders -- Sukhbir, Hardavinder and Sandeep scored nine points each to give India a comprehensive lead I no time. At half time with India leading Nepal 32-10, the outcome of the result was very much evident.
The second half was no different as Indian stoppers Ekam, Sikander and Kanjhli added six points each to increase the point’s margin. India won 67-21.
Meawhile, United Kingdom totally outclassed first-timers Afghanistan. At half time the scores read 34-5. The UK team won the match 68-13.
The final match of the day saw Australia take up charged up Canada. The half-time score depicted the evenness of the encounter with Canada leading Australia by just three points (24-21). But in the second half, the seasoned Canadians came into their own, and despite a valiant effort from the Australians, wrapped up the game with some ease (51-39).
