Mohali: Riding on some superlative performance from their bowlers, followed by a scitillating half-century from their skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Faisalabad Wolves by seven wickets to enter into the main draw of Champions League T 20 at PCA Stadium here on Wednesday.
Disciplined bowling by bowlers led by Amit Mishra (13 runs in four overs) and Dale Steyn (20 runs in four overs) helped Surisers restrict Faisalabad Wolves to a meagre total of 127 runs. Chasing the target, Sunrisers achieved it in the 1tth over (with 15 balls remaining).
The second successive win in the qualifiers ensured that Sunrisers qualify for the main tournament alongside New Zealand's Otago Volts, who defeated Kandurata Maroons.
Meanwhile, Sikhar Dhawan's love affair with Mohali continued as he smashed 59 off 50 balls to help Sunrisers cruise to the modest victory target of 128 in only 17.3 overs. Dhawan hit six fours and a six during his match-winning knock.
Amit Mishra was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers as the leg-spinner bowled economically, giving away just 13 runs in his four overs and took one wicket.
Earlier, Ryan ten Doeschate scored a fiery 32-ball 64 to help Otago Volts beat Kandurata Maroons by six wickets.
