French Open: Serena ready to face Sharapova in finals

French open: Serena Willimas reaches final to face Maria SharapovaParis: Serena Williams breezed through the semi-finals of French Open as she knocked out Sara Errani 6-0, 6-1 in just 46 minutes on Thursday. She will now take on the defending champion, Maria Sharapova, in the finals on Saturday.

Serena is going to be a hot-favourite in the finals as she holds a 13-2 career lead over Sharapova. The last time that Sharapova got the better of Serena was nine years ago. Serena would be eyeing to add the French Open title for the second time to her cabinet since she last appeared in 2002 final. She will be playing in her 20th career Grand Slam championship showdown after stretching her current winning streak to 30 matches.

Errani couldn’t do much against the top seed and her chances of making to the finals were just got slim as the match progressed.

Williams blasted 40 winners to Errani's two while the Italian won just five points on the American's serve. The world number one raced through the first set in just 21 minutes, firing 18 winners past the Italian fifth seed.

Williams continued her sheer dominance as he won the first three games of the second set which sealed the fate of the match. Errani won the fourth game which had the least effect on American as she cruised through the next three games to make her way to the final of French Open.
