IPL: Delhi done and dusted at Kotla, lose by 86 runs

husseywinsitforcskddNew Delhi: Chennai Super Kings won their second away match in an emphatic manner as they had defeated Delhi Daredevils with a huge margin of 86 runs at Feroze Shah Kotla Ground on Thursday. MS Dhoni played a captain’s knock of 44 runs off just 23 balls while Mike Hussey also showed his class by scoring 65 runs off 50 balls. CSK posted a huge total of 169 runs on the board and later the CSK’s bowlers did a very fine job by restricting Daredevils for 83 runs.

Chasing the target of 170, Delhi lost their first four wickets for just 30 runs in first six overs which sealed the match in favour of CSK. Mohit Sharma got wickets of Virender Sehwag, David Warner and Manpreet Juneja. Jeevan Mendis and Kedar Jadhav did try their bit to reduce the margin of defeat but Mendis too got out for just 12 runs. After that it was just a formality as DD kept losing their wickets at regular intervals. Jadhav scored 31 runs off 28 balls while rest of the batsmen failed to reach even a double-figure mark. DD were done and dusted for 83 runs which was their lowest score in IPL so far.

Earlier, Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay gave CSK a perfect launch-pad as they had a quick partnership of 30 runs for the opening wicket. With the departure of Vijay, Raina came on to the crease and started loosening his arm with some boundaries. They had a brilliant 60 run-stand for the second wicket before Raina lost his wicket after scoring 30 runs off 32 balls. Dhoni joined Hussey and the duo unleashed themselves on the Delhi bowlers. Dhoni scored a blistering 44 runs off just 23 balls which included five fours and one six. Hussey remained not out on 65 runs off 50 balls and was adjudged man-of-the-match for his brilliant performance.

CSK scored 169 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Umesh Yadav, Morne Morkel and Irfan Pathan picked up one wicket each.
