New Delhi/Mohali: If it was Virender Sehwag's blitzkrieg (95 off 57 balls) which helped Delhi Daredevils register their first win in IPL 6, David Miller and Mandeep Singh scored fantastic half centuries to give Kings XI Punjab a seven-wicket win over Pune Warriors in a thriller on Sunday.
Miller played a scintillating knock of 80 runs off 41 balls which included five fours and an equal number of sixes while Mandeep hit 58-ball 77, including seven fours, to help Kings XI win the match with one ball to spare.
Needing 29 off last two overs, Kings XI managed to get 13 runs in the second last over with Miller hitting two consecutive fours off Dinda in the 19th over. With 16 required off the last over, Miller hit two huge sixes off Wright to hand the hosts their third win from six matches.
Earlier, Pune set an imposing target 185 whith significant contributions Aaron Finch, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh and Luke Wright. Finch played brilliantly to score 65 off 42 balls while Yuvraj scored 34 off 24 balls. Wright's cameo of 34 off 10 helped Pune finish at 185.
Earlier at Feroze Shah Kotla, Virender Sehwag decimated the Mumbai Indians bowlers to give Daredevils the first win of the season. Sehwag hit a blistering 95 while skipper Mahela Jayawardene too came up with a classy 59 to give Delhi a thumping nine wicket win over Mumbai.
Chasing a challenging total of 162, Sehwag and Jayawardene gave Delhi a flying start and added 151 runs for the opening stand that sealed the match in Delhi's favour.
If in the first of the match it was Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma who entertained the crowd , Sehwag and Jayawardene's counter-attack enthralled the spectators even more in the second half.
While Delhi registered their first win in the tournament out of seven games, Mumbai lost their fourth game out of six in IPL 6.
Two down at 22, Tendulkar was joined by Sharma and they both started ressurecting the Mumbai innings. They mixed caution with aggression and did not let go any bad delivery that came their way as Mumbai reached 57 at the halfway mark.
Sharma smashed Pathan for two boundaries in the 15th over to notch up his half century in just 31 balls. Tendulkar too grabbed the opportunity with both hands and scored his first fifty of IPL 6.
Sharma meanwhile continued his onslaught before perishing in the 19th over. Pollard finished off Mumbai's innings in style, hitting the last delivery, bowled by Van der Merwe, for a six over long-on.
