New Delhi: India won’t be playing home for the next 12 months and as a result the debate on Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement has re-surfaced once again. However, Sunil Gavaskar on Friday said that he is not in a position to foresee whether the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has played his last Test match on Indian soil at Kotla.
"From the past six-seven years, cricket pundits have been speculating that he might retire after this series or that series but all that predictions have bitten the dust as Sachin has grown after every match and is not looking in any mood to hang up his boots. Moreover, Tendulkar knows better than anyone when to say goodbye to Indian cricket," Gavaskar said.
Meanwhile the former Indian captain, talking about the Kotla Test, said, “I don’t think Mahendra singh Dhoni would be unhappy to lose the four toss in a row because that has not backfired till now. India had won all the three matches and so he would not be complaining after losing one more."
He also felt that India were in a commanding position on the opening day of the final Test here. "Indian bowlers did quite well to restrict Aussies to 230-odd runs for eight wickets after the first day. India surely has an upper hand but we need to wait and watch what happens tomorrow.”
The Little Master added, “Indian batsmen have been in terrific form in this series whether you pick Virat Kohli or Mahendra Singh Dhoni in first match or Murli Vijay and Chetashwar Pujara in second or you take the best of all of Murli Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan in third Test.”
