Chennai: Showing some surprise on the omission of opener Gautam Gambhir from the Indian Test team, Australian skipper Michael Clarke said that some of his bowlers must be happy that the left-hander won’t be playing in the first two Tests.

“I was a bit surprised by his omission from the Test team. He is a fantastic player and I think some of our bowlers must be happy that he is not playing. If he scores runs, I'm sure he will get his chance with the Indian team again,” said Clarke.
The Australian skipper, who has always enjoyed batting against the Indians, said it's always exciting for him to come to India as he had always enjoyed playing here. “People of India love the game. For me India is all more special as I began my Test career here. I have many fond memories and now it's more special to come back as a captain,” said Clarke, adding that because of the IPL the comfort level of the players has certainly changed.
“Players now know what the conditions are like when they come to India. The IPL has also been fantastic in that it has built relationships between players all around the world,” said the Aussie skipper.
Talking about his own career, he said that it's been up and down. “I guess I have had some good times, when the team has had a lot of success and I have scored some runs. I have had some tough times as well when I have been dropped from the Test team. But things are going in the right direction now as the team is playing well and I am able to captain Australia,” said Clarke.
