Kolkata: Some gritty batting by Bengal opener Arindam Das helped them take a lead of one run against Hyderabad on day two of their group A Ranji Trophy match here on Sunday.
Bengal in reply to Hyderabad’s 115 lost eight wickets for 78 yesterday and it was Das’ 73 of 178 balls including seven fours and a six that helped them past the visitors’ first innings total.
Anwar Ahmed (5-44) and Ashish Reddy (5-51) were the destroyer-in-chief for Hyderabad.
The lead however would not make much of a difference as the match as it was poised for an exciting finish.
Bengal reduced Hyderabad to 172-8 in the second innings and with two days of play left a result is definitely on the cards.
Akshat Reddy (49) and Ashish Reddy (42) were the chief contributors for Hyderabad in second innings, while Shami Ahmed continued his good performance and claimed 4-68.
