Rohtak: Some fine batting from Haryana top order batsmen took the score to 219/6 at the end of the first day’s play against Delhi in a Group B Ranji Trophy match being played at Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Rohtak. Delhi fought back in the last session picking quick wickets putting the home team under pressure.
Haryana won the toss and elected to bat first, their openers Rahul Dewan (71) and Nitin Saini (45) justified the decision as they put together an impressive stand right on top. Saini was the aggressor between the two and got 45 runs out of the 69 the two scored together.
After the fall of Saini’s wicket, Sunny Singh cam into bat and shared a 40 runs stand with Dewan for the second wicket. Dewan in the innings played the sheet-anchor role and had good partnership with Singh and then with Khod.
Haryana were 2-156 but they lost the plot from there and lost four wickets in the matter of 50 runs.
Rahul Dalal (42*) and Jayant Yadav (3*) were at the crease when play ended.
