Hyderabad: Hyderabad launched a valiant fight-back in reply to Mumbai’s first innings score of 443 in their Group A Ranji Trophy match on Sunday.
The hosts were comfortable placed at 138-1 at the close of play on day 2 with opener Akshath Reddy batting on 63 and Hanuma Vihari on 53, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Earlier starting the day at the overnight score of 325-2, Mumabi batsmen could not add much to the score. Ashish Reddy was the wrecker-in-chief for Hyderabad with his figures of 4-77.
Hiken Shah and Rohit Sharma who had already scored their centuries on the opening day did not trouble the scorers much in the day.
Shah was dismissed for 156 and played 267 balls laced with 17 boundaries while Sharma in his 176-ball innings scored 112 including nine fours and three sixes.
Another notable contributor for Mumbai was Abhishek Nayar who scored 64 off 90 deliveries with the help of seven fours.
