Sandeep’s seven ends Saurashtra’s innings at 90

ranji trophyMohali: Punjab piled on miseries of Saurashtra as the hosts bowled out the visitors for a paltry 90 runs in 27.1 overs in the Ranji Trophy Group A encounter at Mohali on Saturday.  Sandeep Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped seven wickets for just 25 runs while Sidharth Kaul took two wickets.

Sagar Jogiyani (41) was the highest scorer for Saurashtra while Bhushan Chauhan contributed 29 runs to his team’s total.

In reply Punjab were 125 for five.

In another match, skipper Rohit Sharma and Hiken Shah made merry on day one of their Ranji Trophy Group A tie against Hyderabad as they scored unbeaten centuries to propel Mumbai to 325 for two on Saturday.  Hiken was not out on 154 while Rohit was batting on 102.

Earlier, Mumbai didn’t get to a good start as they lost Kaustubh Pawar inside the first four overs. Thereafter Hiken and wicket-keeper Aditya Tare steered the visitors to safety with a 121-run second wicket partnership. And after Tare's fall, Rohit joined Hiken to plunder the Hyderabad attack to notch up the unbroken 203-run third wicket stand.
