New Delhi: Parupalli Kashyap defeated Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam 12-21 22-20 21-14 to enter the quarterfinals of the China Super Series in Shanghai.
London Oympics quarter-finalist defeated the seventh seeded Vietnamese in a match that went for an hour and nine minutes.
Kashyap did not look in the best of touch and conceded an early lead, he eventually lost the opening game.
In the second game Kashyap once again conceded an early lead but fought back brilliantly to get level with his opponent. The game went to the final points and Kashyap held his nerves better to take the match into the deciding game.
In the final game Kashyap looked at his best and finished the match in style.
He will now face China's Zhengming Wang for a spot in the semifinals.
