Mumbai: The warm-up match between England XI and Mumbai A being played at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai ended in a draw. England XI’s first practice match was also a draw against India A.
Earlier in the day, Mumbai A started their innings at 232-4, Hiken Shah who was unbeaten on 84 could only add eight runs to his score before he got out to Graham Onions. The England bowlers got on a roll after that wicket and took the last five wickets for only 46 runs.
England after getting a first innings lead of 59 runs started their second innings well as both their young openers, Joe Root and Nick Compton batted well in the initial overs. Root got out to Shardul Thakur after scoring 24 runs, Jonathan Trott (60) too got out after getting his eyes in.
Compton (64*) and Ian Bell (28) were unbeaten when the match was declared a draw.
