Paris: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal defeated Ratchanok Inthanon of Thailand 22-20, 22-20 to reach the women's singles semifinals of the ongoing French Open Super Series.
The match that went for 41 minutes saw some brilliant rallies as both players played beautifully. Saina looked focused right from the first minute and got an early lead in the first game, but the Thai came back strongly to level the score at 20 all. The Olympics bronze medallist held her nerves in the deciding points and used her experience to win the first game 22-20.
Saina got into act very quickly in the second game and got early points but Ratchanok fought back brilliant y and was leading at one point. The second game went down to the wire as Saina was stretched for every point. But the Hyderabadi girl showed immense maturity and was once again brilliant on the deciding points to win the second game 22-20.
