India beat New Zealand by 5 wickets to complete 2-0 whitewashBangalore: Virat Kohli and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni kept their cool under pressure to guide India to a five wicket over New Zealand in the second Test here at the Chinnaswamy Stadium her today to complete a 2-0 series whitewash.

Kohli (51) and Dhoni (48) who rescued India in the first innings as well got their act together once more and stitched an unbeaten partnership of 96 and clinch the victory in the fourth day of the match.

The pair started the damage control after India were reeling at 166-5 after the Kiwis removed Cheteswar Pujara (48) and Suresh Raina for nought. Meanwhile Sachin Tendulkar continued his poor run in the tournament and for the third time in a row he was out bowled. He was out for 23.

India chasing a target of 261, started off well with the opener Virender Sehwag (38) and Gautam Gambhir (38) off to a flying start. They scored at a pretty brisk rate before getting out. India went into the lunch on 88-2.

India did not lose any wicket in the post lunch session and reached 147 for 2 before bad light stopped play. The umpires signalled early tea break and India went into the break needing 114 runs more to win.

But then some disciplined bowling by New Zealand reduced India to a spot of bother and after that it was Kohli and Dhoni who brought India home.

Earlier, New Zealand innings was folded for 248 after Zaheer Khan got the wicket of Jeetan Patel in the morning but not before he had added some useful runs with his lusty hitting.
