New Delhi: Top seed Shashank Nautiyal from Delhi suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Dhruv Pal from Uttranchal, losing 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the Boys under-16 Fenesta Open national Tennis Championship for the Juniors here on Monday.
After the high voltage action in the first week in the men’s and women’s sections, it was the turn of the under-16 players to showcase their wares at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association on Monday.
Back  to top seed Shashank, the first match of any tournament is always a bit  tricky. The youngster did have problems reading his opponent’s game and  could not settle down. In the decider, it was a smooth run for Dhruv as  he won 6-2.
Second seed Fatehdeep Singh from Punjab also was put  through the wringer in the first round as he defeated Dheer A.Singh from  Chandigarh 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Third seeded Jude Raymond from Andhra Pradesh also faced moments of uncertainty before he pushed aside Alien Johnson from Kerela 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 in first round action.
Fourth  seed Deepak Vishwakarma from Uttar Pradesh was tested by Maharashtra’s  Abhimanyu Dakwal in the first set before he won 7-6 (7/4), 6-4.
Among  those coasting into the second round was Richi Agarwal as he beat  Yuvraj Singh Bains 6-2, 6-1 while Sachin Kumar defeated Pranav Malhotra  6-3, 6-3.
