Bidar: It was a mixed day for Indians at the ITF Bidar Open as fifth seeded Ankita Raina and National junior champion Prathana Thombare won their respective matches to advance in the tournament, while it was curtains for Nidhi Chilumula here at the Police Training School Courts.
Ankita taking on Thailand’s Varunya Wongtean Chai won 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) to book a spot in the semifinals. She will now lock horns against Wing Yau Venise Chan of Hong Kong who outclassed Nidhi Chilumula 2-6, 6-1, 1-6.
Meanwhile Prarthana got the better of Korea’s Ju-eun Kim 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the semis. She will now take on Yumi Miyazaki of Japan who beat second-seeded Nungnadda Wannasuk of Thailand 6-2, 7-5.
