Hyderabad: Chandigarh Rowing Team brought laurels to the city by winning 7 Silver Medals during the 34th Senior National Rowing Championships held at Hussain Sagar Lake, Hydrabad from 25-31 January, 2016. The team was sponsored by Chandigarh Rowing Association. The following is the event-wise details of the medal winners in 2000M and 500M races:

2000 Meters
Under 21 Men Double Sculls (U21M2x): Jaspal Singh and Jaspreet Sing
Men Light Weight Coxless Four (LM4-): Rajinder Singh, Tarsem Singh, Gulshan Kumar and Gulshan
Women Single Sculls (W1x): Pooja
Women Coxless Pair (W2-): Monalisa Mohany and Mamta Jena

500 Meters
Women Single Sculls (W1x): Pooja
Women Coxless Pair (W2-): Monalisa Mohanty and Mamta Jena
Women Coxless Four (W4-): Monalisa Mohanty, Priyadarsini Rout, L. Nanaobi Devi and Mamta Jena

The Chandigarh rowers would have given even better performance if adequate rowing equipment and proper rowing course are made available for the practice throughout the year. It is hearting to know that Chandigarh Sports Department is procuring the equipment for the rowers on priority basis. Chandigarh Sports Department shall honour the medal winners and reward them.
