Nadi Haridas takes top honours In Delhi Horse ShowNew Delhi: In the Delhi Horse Show 2012 female rider Nadia Haridas took top honours in the 6-Bar Jumping competition, which was the mainstay of the weekend. Scaling through the highest bar at 1.5metres, Nadia rode Landtos to a ‘thumbs up’ win for female ability. Ajay Apachu, who has been on a winning spree this Delhi Horse Show, took second place ridingBianco. And 13-year old Gursobha Singh riding Bawla won the hearts of the entire audience, jumping his way to third spot. Interestingly, while the junior and adult jumping rounds (participants aged 21 and below) saw a new horse show record at 1.8metres, the adults did not come close to that height and record.

“I’ve been competing for a decade now, and what makes winning possible and great is the sheer energy of the people andparticipants at Delhi horse Show. I would have loved to take the jump higher, but a minor fault from Ajay on the first fence meant that I won it without much ado”, said NADIA after the win.

In other competition, Yashdeep astride ‘VA’ won in the Young Rider Jumping Topscore, while Shivaji Poonia on horse, ‘Andy Flower’ won in the Grade 3 Jumping top score. In both the competitions, the riders were given a 9-jump field along with a ‘joker’ fence that could be attempted for a clearance of 200 points, and a refusal or dropping the bar costing (-)200. Riders could attempt fences at random, with each fence providing a unique set of points.

The 2012 edition has witnessed 4000 participants, 1000 horses, 10-days of action culminating into the present weekend, and more than a dozen different events/competition including dressage, show jumping, puissance, tent pegging and other lighter events meant at entertaining and skill building.
