Chandigarh: Chandigarh Badminton Association facilitated Dr SN Sharma and Wing Commander Satish Bhatia with life time achievement award for their contribution in the game of badminton for Chandigarh.
Dr SN Sharma, ex-chairman of Physical Education Department of Panjab University, did a lot of research work on badminton and guided many players, coaches and teachers. Surinder Mahajan, who is a senior badminton coach, says, “Whatever I am today, it’s only because of Dr SN Sharma as in the beginning he trained me and guided me on every moment in the field of badminton.”
Wing Commander Satish Bhatia, an former international badminton star, has also contributed a lot for Chandigarh as he provided his services by giving coaching to many players. Satish Bhatia is known for his special spin service.
Along with above two legends, Kawaldeep, Sumit, Sanya, Abhishek Garima and Divyanshi Rathore were also honoured by the Association for their excellent performance during North Zone Badminton Championships held at Mandi (HP) last month.
