SN Vohra’s All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament: IAF thrash NR 7-0, CISF beat Ropar Hawks 4-1

CHANDIGARH: Indian Air Force thrashed Northern Railway 7-0 while Central Industrial Security Force beat Ropar Hwaks 4-1 the preliminary round matches of the 46th SN Vohra’s All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here on Sunday.

The Indian Air Force were in attacking mode from the start and went one up in the 10th minue as Devendra Singh scored the goal to give them the lead. Thereafter, Sanwar Ali (28th), Harwant Singh (35th), Damanjit Singh (40th, penalty corner), Varinder Kumar (44th), Sanwar Ali (54th) and Shanavaj Alam (66th) added one goal each to give the airmen 7-0 win.

Earlier, the Central Industrial Security Force scored four goals, while conceded one against Ropar Hawks. Nickey Razak opened the account for CISF in the 43rd minute, while Harish Sharma increased the tally to 2-0 in the 52nd minute. CISF again scored through Nickey Razak, who converted a penalty corner in the 59th minute, to make it 3-0. Mangra Munda scored fourth and final CISF goal in the 66th minute.

Ropar Hawks scored their only goal through Harmanjit Singh, who converted a penalty corner in the 70th minute.
