Mohali: Mohali Golf Range is all set to hold its first ever “Golf Challenge” with the Castle Sports Open Golf Challenge on Sunday October 23.
The “Castle Sports Open Golf Challenge” will consist of competitions in long driving , putting, chipping and bunker play and is open for our approx 700 members and for non-members, including juniors, sub-juniors, boys, girls, amateurs, seniors and ladies. An overall champion with the best performance in all the categories will also be declared.
The junior and sub junior categories will be as per the Indian Golf Union (IGU) list of categories of A,B,C,D,E,F and there will be a separate putting category and prizes for father-son , husband-wife, father-daughter,brother – sister, and brother -brother competition also .
According to Arjuna Awardee Harmeet Kahlon and Director of the Golf Academy, “As golf is now an Olympic sport, we want to leave no stone unturned to combine golf skill and fun in a challenging way by hosting this golf challenge which is on the lines of the Captains Day celebrations of various Golf Clubs where separate and individual competitions are held in long driving, putting, chipping and bunker play. In addition to the above, it is a golden opportunity for beginners to also compete as there will be a separate category for them as they rarely get a chance to compete in golf, thereby encouraging them to take up the game professionally. In this way we will also be giving the children of the region the opportunity to compete and experience competitive golf in a small but professional way before they begin to participate in full fledged tournaments.”
“This golf challenge will be an annual event and apart from attractive trophies, both winner and participation certificates will be presented to all the participants. For those players and children who do not yet own golf equipment, the size specific golf equipment for children, ladies and adults alongwith golf balls will be provided so that ownership of expensive golf equipment is not a hindrance to participating in competitions,” said Harmeet.
Registrations are now open and entry forms are available at the reception of Mohali Golf Range . The last date of entry is on October 21 at 8:45 pm.
