Delhi: Reliance Foundation Youth Sports saw an enthralling comeback victory in the Senior Boys category when Ryan International School came from 3 goals down in the 49th minute to win their match against Indirapuram Public School on penalties.
From the 1st minute the match promised to be a thriller as Indirapuram Public School scored through Naman Pathak within 50 seconds. Ryan International tried to get back in the game and had come close on a couple of occasions but could not find the net. With Ryan International putting everybody forward they were left exposed on the counter as Indirapuram School managed to double their advantage in the 27th minute thanks to a great run by Gaurang Sharma. Indirapuram School went into Half-time with the advantage as Ryan International looked depleted.
The second half saw both sides squander advantages with Ryan International looking to get back in the game. Indirapuram Public School however scored another goal in the 49th minute through Gaurang Sharma to take a 3-0 advantage with only 11 minutes left on the clock. The game looked to be over with Indirapuram Public School progressing but Ryan International had other ideas as the match was completely turned on its head when Path Tyagi scored two back-to-back goals in the 52nd and 53rd minute to bring his side ride back in the mix. Indirapuram School’s defense desperately tried to hang onto their lead but Ryan International wanted the game that much more and managed to complete the dramatic turnaround in the 57th minute when Vishal Tomar scored the equalizer for his side. In what was a 5 minute blitz Ryan International completely stunned their opponents to score 3 goals to take the game into the penalty shootout.
The penalty shootout clearly saw that the match had a massive impact on the minds of the Indirapuram Public School players as they missed 2 of their penalties to hand Ryan International School a 3-1 victory in the shootout. With the victory Ryan International completed a truly remarkable comeback to take the game and progress to the next round of the tournament.
