Ponting’s ODI drop off is Watson’s gain

Brisbane: After Ponting’s deplorable performance in the Tri-series, the panel seems to have finally taken a note of his pattern. Apparently, Ricky Ponting has been dropped off the squad due to his poor form in the series. His average has been 3.6 across five innings for the on-going one-day series.

Though the Tasmanians track record has been more than brilliant over his career spree, he has not been able to perform in the tri series; however the team mates would definitely feel his absence.

But as they say, ‘some one’s loss is some one’s gain’ Ponting paved way for the return of  Shane Watson who has been battling his calf injury and also making way to the national side.

Harris also returned at the expense of left-arm player Mitchell Starc. Reportedly, selectors have also confirmed that Matthew Wade had taken over the position of Brad Haddin, as he was the ‘preferred’ ODI wicket keeper for the team.
