Speaking about the feat, Woojin told the Olympic News Service that he practised more than everyone else and gave his best for the entire round.

"Tomorrow there is a more important match. In terms of celebrating today, nothing – I want to focus on tomorrow’s match. "I want to focus on the Games now but later, maybe, I’ll get to enjoy Brazil,” he said.

Meanwhile, India’s Atanu Das shot an impressive 683 to finish in the fifth place of the men’s individual recurve qualification round. Lying 10th after first 36 arrows, the Kolkata archer turned it around in style in the final set of 36 arrows by shooting 23 perfect 10s including 10 closest to the centre to finish fifth with 683 out of the possible 720.
