Himachal trounce JKCA, Punjab beat Haryana in Vinoo Mankad (U-19 ) Trophy

Mohali: DB Rangi hit a brilliant ton (109) off 77 balls to help Himachal record 197-run win against Jammu and Kashmir in the Vinoo Mankad (U-19) Trophy at PCA Stadium, here on Friday. With four points, Himachal finished the league table with 12 points.

Rangi’s century included seven boundaries and three sixes which enabled Himachal to post 266 in 46.1 overs against JKCA. Rangi added 86 runs for the second wicket with M.Z. Khan. He was involved in another useful partnership of 61 runs for the 3rd wicket with MS Dogra (36). SG Arora joined in and scored a fluent half century (52) off 58 balls inclusive of 8 boundaries.

For JKCA Momin Mansoor (3 for 45), Aman Sharma (2 for 46), Taizeem Younis (2 for 49) and T.S. Sambyal (2 for 65) were the main wicket takers.

Replying JKCA were routed for A.S. Jamwal 4 for 17 and M.J.Dagar 4 for 11 being most the damage.

In the second match played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium, Patiala, Punjab U-19 defeated Haryana U-19 by three wickets to garner four points.

Haryana winning the toss and opting to bat scored 229 for 9 in 50 overs. T.P. Bali 26, S.R.Chauhan 27, S.D. Dhull unbeaten 74 , M.R. Chaudhary 23 were the principal run getters for Haryana. For Punjab left arm spinner Prerit Dutta 4 for 37 was the most successful bowlers.

Replying Punjab scored 230 for 7 in 49 overs. Punjab’s opener Shubman Gill was unlucky to miss his century as he was run out for 96 off 122 balls inclusive of 8 boundaries and one six. Othe contributors were Anmolpreet Singh 20 and Ikjot Singh Thind 27.
For Haryana S.G. Rohilla (3 for 36) was the most successful bowler. With this win Punjab took their tally to 12 to take number two spot in the North Zone League.
