JK Tyre packages world class mortor racing programme

New Delhi: JK Tyre, the company which brought about a revolution in Indian motorsport two decades ago is all set to create a new benchmark in 2013. Underlining its continued commitment to nurture the best in Motorsport, the company today revealed its plans for the 2013 racing season. With the introduction of an international class - Formula BMW run by one of the world’s most renowned teams - EUROINTERNATIONAL and the existent classes namely VW Polo R Cup - India’s only one-make racing series and Formula LGB 4 - the stepping stone to single-seater racing, the JK Tyre Racing Championship 2013 has all the ingredients to make it a cracker of a season.

JK Tyre is known to host events which are high on speed, glitz and hospitality; and with the new season, the company is all set to take these standards a few notches higher. The season opener will witness the best of both forms of motorsport - off-roading & circuit racing being held at the same city, venue and time, which will be a first-of-its kind event. Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore will play host to Round 1 of the JK Tyre Racing Championship 2013 as well as Round 3 of the Indian National Rally Championship 2013 from July 19-21, 2013. The entire motorsport fraternity from across the country sharing the same passion will gather at the same spot.

The JK Tyre Racing Championship is currently in its 17th successive year. In order to fill in the void for its find for the next Formula One driver and give Indian race drivers a world-class exposure, JK Tyre will introduce Formula BMW in the 2013 season. The series formerly known as Formula BMW was acquired by JK Tyre in 2011 and was rechristened the JK Racing Asia Series. The series is the only ‘Junior’ Formula Racing programme and is the first step in the world of single-seater racing. The series has produced several Formula One drivers including the reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel.

In its efforts to nurture and promote young talent, the company is bringing the FB02 cars featuring a Mygale chassis powered by a 1.2 litre BMW bike engine, to run as part of this championship. Formula FBMW will be run under the tutelage of world’s leading racing organization EUROINTERNATIONAL owned by Mr. Antonio Ferrari. Under his guidance, Team EUROINTERNATIONAL has become a racing giant and boasts of being the only team to win all Formula BMW Championships in Europe, USA and Asia, including the last FBMW World Final in all categories.

The company has created opportunities for 12 of India’s best racing talents to compete in this category. All the race drivers, under the age of 20 years, are National Karting Champions, have been part of the JK Tyre's motorsport programme and have proved their mettle in Indian Racing. This move is to give them a global exposure on Indian soil and give them an opportunity to work with the best engineers and technology.
