Hyderabad: Peeved off by the manner in which Kings XI Punjab surrendered the match to Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday, Kings XI skipper Adam Gilchrist said that their batsmen have been letting them down.
Not happy with the fall of the last four wickets in as many balls, Gilchrist said that losing those wickets was the turning point. “It was looking good to get to 140. But then we lost four wickets for nothing. It's about getting the consistency. The bowlers are doing a good job but the batsmen keep letting them down,” said Gilchrist.
Meanwhile Sunrisers skipper Cameron White said in a lighter vein that they were like winning the close games. “140 was always going to be tough chase. Vihari's had a nice tournament so far which is a good thing about the IPL, allowing youngsters to perform. The bowlers are doing a good job. Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Dale Steyn, Karan Sharma are all doing good,” said White.
Vihari, who got the man-of-the-match award said that he was quite happy with his performnace. “I am very happy with the performance. Most importantly, the team won when I performed. I don't mind bowling just one over. More important is to bowl it well. For this wicket, it was a good target. Sad that I couldn't see it through,” said Vihari.
