Chennai Super Kings have been the most consistent team of this IPL so far and would be looking to continue with their winning streak against Kings XI Punjab as well. With the likes of MS Dhoni, Mike Hussey and Suresh Raina in good form, CSK is looking all pumped up but Kings XI Punjab also have some good batters in David Miller, Adam Gilchrist and Mandeep Singh who can turn the tables in this scintillating encounter. Punjab's strength lies in their bowling which is led by Praveen Kumar and is very well supported by Harmeet Singh which can give some tough time to MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle order.
Here we bring to you the players to watch out for the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXI-P).
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
MS Dhoni: Dhoni was in murderous mood in last match against Pune as he smacked 45 runs off just 16 balls that he played. His ability to turn the game makes him the biggest match-winner that CSK have in their team.
Suresh Raina: Raina finally came good and batted till the end to score 63 runs off 50 balls in the last match. He is a class player and his form will mater the most as he bats on number three which gives him a responsibility to bind the innings together and with such performances his confidence would have got much more boost.
Mike Hussey: Hussey didn’t perform well in last game but can be expected to come up good at his home ground. He has shown some true class in the past few matches and would be looking to replicate such performance against Punjab.
Mohit Sharma: Sharma has done some fine job in the bowling department. His ability to give initial breakthroughs makes him a dangerous bowler. He can be very handy especially against the flimsy middle-order of Kings XI. He ended up with three wickets in last match and gave away just 21 runs in his four overs.
Ravindra Jadeja: Jadeja has not been looking as dangerous as he could be with the ball. He hasn’t been amongst the wickets since last few matches. Though he got the most important wicket of Steve Smith in last game, he gave away 26 runs in his four overs. But Jadeja is a match-winner and his all-round performance holds a key for CSK.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
Adam Gilchrist: Gilchrist could make a comeback in this crucial match. His explosive batting with Shaun Marsh can surely change the fortunes if both stays at the crease for good seven to eight overs. Gilchrist has been an inspiring leader.
David Miller: Miller has been the best bet for Punjab so far. His consistency on Indian pitches is something exceptional. He can be very explosive in the final overs as he was in last game against Mumbai and add to that his ability to go into the shell and play the waiting game makes him look a class player.
Mandeep Singh: Mandeep has not been looking good either wiht his batting or on the field. But he is a talented player and has the exquisite timing which helps him clear boundaries with ease. But he shouldn’t get tempted with the slower ones and throw away his wicket.
Harmeet Singh: Harmeet can be really handy with the ball because of his short balls and slow bouncers which can come very handy against the likes of Suresh Raina and S Badrinath. He has that ability to give breakthroughs in mid-overs and that’s why his inclusion in the squad will add loads of strength to the team.
Praveen Kumar: Praveen has been in spectacular form this season. His ability to bowl those cheap overs and create that pressure situation in the beginning of the innings makes him a lethal bowler. He is going to be the key in the bowling for Punjab on any day. He may end up running through the top-order with his brilliant out-swingers.
