Miami: Indian tennis stars Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna have cruised in to the second round of ATP Miami Masters after defeating their respective opponents in the opening round of their respective doubles event.
Sania, who is paired with Bethanie Mattek-Sands, registered a comfortable win over Birnerova of Czech Republic and Varvara Lepchenko of America in the straight sets 7-5 6-3. The match lasted for one hour and 21 minutes. The Indo-American duo will now face Jarmila Gasdosova and Sabine Lisicki in the second round of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and Rajeev Ram also entered the next round as they beat Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley 7-6 6-4. Bopanna and Ram beat the Australian-American duo in a match that went on for an hour and 22 minutes. Indian duo will now face second seeds Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez.
Seventh seeds Leander Paes and Michael Llodra, along with third seed Mahesh Bhupathi and Daniel Nestor had earlier booked berths in the second round.
