Kolkata: Prabir Mukherjee, Eden Gardens curator went on a month-long sick leave following the pitch row for the third Test match between India and England. Mukherjee was sidelined as the chief curator.
There were reports that Mukherjee refused to prepare a rank turner for the third test due to start on Dec. 5, a request made by the Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Reportedly MS Dhoni asked the rank turner so that the ball starts turning from the first day.
BCCI then decided to appoint Ashish Bhowmick, East Zone curator to prepare the pitch in place of the local curator.
Mukherjee in an interview to a TV Channel said, “This is like a school headmaster telling students to cheat in exams. You can’t ask for square turners on the first day of the Test.”
