In a Group B encounter, IPL power-house Chennai Super Kings will take on local favorites Highveld Lions in the ongoing Champions League Twenty20. The IPL teams have struggled so far in this tournament, and CSK will be looking to change that. Chennai lost their last match against Sydney Sixers and will be looking to come back strongly into the tournament.
Chennai have been one of the most consistent T20 side since the time it came into existence and Lions will know how dangerous the men in yellow can be.
Lions on the other hand played some tremendous cricket to beat defending champions Mumbai Indians in their last match. They bowled
well and paced their run-chase superbly to pull an upset.
Let’s have a look at some of the players who can make a difference in today’s match.
Chennai Super Kings:
Faf du Plessis: He was the best batsmen for Chennai against Sixers. He is a local lad and is best suited for this kind of environment. He is
an attacking batsmen and can clear any boundary. The onus will be on him to provide Chennai a good platform. He is a terrific fielder and
can roll his arm a bit.
Suresh Raina: Raina in the last match showed that he capable of handling the South African conditions, he was the top-scorer for CSK
in the last match. Raina’s struggle against shot pitch deliveries is known to everyone and he will once again be tested on those grounds.
R Ashwin: No matter what conditions Chennai plays in, Ashwin will always be their most potent weapon. He is dangerous against any
opposition and his variations are hard to negotiate in any conditions.
Ben Hilfenhaus: He looked dangerous with the new ball against Sixers and it was pity that Dhoni took him off after only two overs.
Hilfenhaus is most dangerous when he is swinging the ball away from the right-handers.
Highveld Lions:
Alviro Petersen: He looked good against Mumbai in the short little innings that he played and once again the responsibility will be o the captain of the Lions to provide his team a good launch pad. Petersen opens for South Africa in Tests and knows all about these conditions.
Neil McKenzie: He played a match winning knock against Mumbai Indians where he batted superbly. He played intelligent cricket right from their first ball he played, the best thing about his innings was the pace he maintained, he will be key against the Chennai spinners.
Dirk Nannes: He had a tremendous outing against Mumbai Indians and was the most economical bowler of the match. Nannes will once again lead the Lions bowling attack and a lot will depend on how he bowls his four overs.
Sohail Tanveer: He was impressive in the first match and picked up a crucial wicket in his spell. He is very awkward bowler and can deceive batsmen with his quick-arm action. Tanveer can bowl very well in the death overs.
