Colombo: Indian Eves ended their T20 World Cup campaign on a disastrous note as they lost to arch rivals Pakistan in a close game in Galle.
They have now have exited the tournament failing to win a single match.
After putting a good performance with the bowl, their batting came a cropper and chasing a target of 99, they fell short by one run.
Batting first, Pakistan got off to good start and Sana Mir (26 off 38) and Nain Abidi (25 off 34) combined well to keep the scoreboard ticking.
But Indian bowlers came back well into the match and managed to restrict Pakistan to 98 for loss of nine wickets. Jhulan Goswami (2-16), Rasanara Parwin (2-15) and Anuja Patil (2-16) were the pick of the bowlers for India.
In pursuit of a meagre target, India got off to a good start and it was the 2nd wicket partnership between Poonam Raut and Mithali Raj (16 off 29) that took India close. But then it was Nida Dar’s three wicket in a span of two overs that brought them back into the game.
Nida Dar was the wrecker-in-chief with her 3-12 of four overs.
