Bangalore: Tim Southee’s seven wickets haul overshadowed Virat Kohli’s second test century as India was all out for 353 and trail by 12 runs on the third day of the second Test here at the Chinnaswamy Stadium today.
India who came out to bat at an overnight score of 283/5 started off well and Kohli and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni reaching their individual milestone.
While Kohli reached his century, Dhoni completed his half century. But then soon after reaching the three figure mark, Kohli was trapped plumb in front of the wicket by Southee for his fifth wicket of the match. He then dismissed Dhoni and Zaheer in quick succession.
R. Ashwin then lit the game with some lusty last minute hitting. He scored 32 of 40 deliveries including five fours.
Umesh Yadav was the last man dismissed on four.
New Zealand started their second innings well and at lunch were 29 for no loss and were leading India by 41 runs.
