Bangalore: Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not taking anything for granted ahead of the second Test match against New Zealand to be played in Bangalore. India won the first match comprehensively, but Dhoni advised his teammates to not take things easy as the visiting team can exploit the overhead condition and can pull a surprise.
Dhoni said that they will like to repeat their performance from Hyderabad and will keep things simple.
Dhoni said that the spell with the new ball will be crucial for both the teams and that the Kiwis have some good pacers in their line-up. He said that the Indian batsmen have to be cautious against the new ball as the visiting team will be looking to get some wickets early on.
Dhoni made it clear that he is hoping for a pitch that will assist his spinners, he also praised Ashwin and Ojha who together took 18 out of the 20 Kiwi wickets at Hyderabad.
Dhoni said that he will like to play on a pitch that will offer some assistance for the spinners.
There have been talks that the Indian team should save some of its senior players for future, but Dhoni made it clear that India will field their best side and there will be no experiment with the team line-up.
On his own batting, he said that he is trying to get accustomed with playing with the tail-enders because some partnerships late in the order can frustrate the opposition.
Sachin Tendulkar recently said that he is not thinking about retiring, Dhoni also said that the maestro is enjoying his cricket and is looking to improve with every innings.
