Gurgaon: English pro Henrietta Zuel led her team of DS Randhawa, HS Chadha and amateur Tour regular Vani Kapoor to a fine win at the Morning Pro-Am of the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2011 here at the DLF Golf & Country Club on Thursday.
They were followed by French golfer Jade Schaeffer’s team, which included I S Kohli, Siddharth Arora and JS Sehrawat, while the third placed team was another French pro Cassandra Kirkland, KK Jaiswal, Dhruv Singh and Arun Kumar.
Gauri Monga had the longest drive among women measuring 253 yards, while Aman Sawhney drove 278 yards to top men’s section. Veera Singh was closest to the pin at four feet among women and Wg Cdr JS Sehrawat was closest among men at 11 feet five inches.
Pawan Munjal of Hero Honda gave away the prizes.
On Wednesday night, the first-ever Pro-Am under lights at the DLF Golf Course saw Italian pro Sophie Sandolo team up with Monica Jajoo and Puja Batra to win the honours. They were followed by American pro Christina Kim’s team, including Pawan Munjal, Naveen Raheja and Suniil Sawhney.
Noorine Fazal scorched the fairway with a 250-yard drive to triumph in the ‘Longest Drive ‘ category for women while Navin Raheja won the same category for men with a 248-yard effort. The ‘Closest to the Pin’ contest for ladies was won by Puja Batra whose approach shot came to rest 21 feet from the pin. Koichi Kato’s wedge placed him 19 feet from the cup to win him the ‘Closest to the Pin’ prize in the men’s category.
