New Delhi: The cream of India’s amateur talent along with elite foreigners from Scotland, Germany and Nepal will be on display when the Delhi NCR Cup 2015 tees off at the Par-72 Delhi Golf Club here from Tuesday. The 72 player field will battle it out for winning 45 points on offer in the event to be played over four days of stroke play.
Defending champion Aman Raj of Patna will look to repeat his performance of last year and will aim to grab the top position on the Order of Merit from current occupant, Samarth Dwivedi.
Stephen Spence and Michael Smyth will represent Royal Troon, the host of The Open 2016 while Germany will be represented by Christof Korth and Nicolas Meerkamp. Neeraj Rana and Tanka Bahadur will constitute the Nepal team.
Also featuring is No. 3 on the merit list and the country’s top junior, Viraj Madappa along with veterans Vikram Rana (No. 4) and Simarjeet Singh (No. 6). Young gun Pukhraj Singh Gill (No. 5) will also be aiming for his first win on the IGU Amateur Tour.
The players will compete in the team event as well over the first two rounds after which a halfway cut will be applied.
