Narain, Chandhok enjoy ‘special' day

Greater Noida: It was a moment of life-time for Indian drivers Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandhok to drive Formula One cars on the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) here on Friday.

Narain was quite emotional about the inaugural race in the country. “The first lap was very special; I felt so many emotions driving in India. I just could not believe it and there were so many things running through my head,” he said after the practice sessions.

Chandhok expressed similar sentiments about his home race. “It felt great to finally be able to drive an F1 car here at the BIC and it was a real honour to be the first car to set a timed lap in front of the fans.”

Narain, who would be the only Indian to race on Sunday, was satisfied with his experience on the circuit.

“In the first practice, we were just trying to get into the swing of things and the second one went much better. We have a lot of things to try for tomorrow.
