Paes-Stepanek crash out of the ATP Monaco Masters

 

According to a report The Indian Express, Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek were defeated by top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan 2-6, 0-6 to end Indian Challenge at the ATP Monaco Masters. The defeat for the Indo-Czech pair came in just 50 minutes. Bryan brother broke the Indo-Czech pair five times and saved two.

A Times of India report writes that Sahara Force India produced a decent show at the Bahrain Grand Prix’s qualifying session with Paul di Resta finishing on 10th and Nico Hulkenburg three spots behing him on 13th. Di Resta would now start the Sunday’s race from the fifth row while Nico would line up from the 13th.

Mail Today writes that national record holder triple jumper Renjith Maheswari has qualified for the Olympics in the ‘B’ standard after winning the gold on the opening day of the 16th Federation Cup Senior National Athletics Championship in Patiala. Maheswari who is representing Tamil Nadu at the meet had a leap of 16.85 m in his fifth attempt, which was the exact mark required for the ‘B’ qualification standards of the Olympics.

Meanwhile The Hindustan Times wrote that top Indian marksmen Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang missed the finals of the World Cup being played at the London on Saturday. They both shot an identical score of 596. Bindra finished 10th at the air rifle event while Narang finished 12th in the shoot-off.
