Spanish Primera Liga: Barcelona edge past Sevilla 2-0

Madrid: Goals by Xavi and Lionel Messi helped FC Barcelona fire past Sevilla 2-0 to cut Real Madrid’s lead at the top of the table to seven points on Saturday.

Barcelona started off well and plied their usual tactics and threatened Sevilla with frequent raids at the box but could not materialize it into goal. However they drew the first blood of the match when Xavi’s curling free over the wall found the nets.

In the 31st minutes a goal by Messi helped him score his 31st goal of the season and 150th overall.

The Champions now have 63 points and from 27 games whereas table leaders Real Madrid are on 70 but can restore their 10 points advantage when they take on Malaga at Bernebeu on Sunday.
