Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is confident that Lionel Messi will bounce back after having a tough summer. Messi lost the Copa America final for the second consecutive time. To make matters worse, he had been given a 21-month jail sentence in a Spanish court for alleged tax fraud. But, his Barcelona coach expects Messi to be energetic as usual.
On being asked about Messi’s retirement from international football he replied, “He said it at a difficult time. Only time will tell if he will continue or not with Argentina. As a fan, I would like him to continue to play for Argentina but from a selfish standpoint, I’m open to any possibility. Messi will arrive as always with enthusiasm to play because what he likes most is football. This summer he deserved to win the Copa America but in football, sometimes the team that plays better doesn’t win.”
He was even asked about Messi’s jail sentence and he replied, “I don’t think it will affect Leo but he is the only one that can reply to that.”
Barcelona lost Dani Alves who signed for Juventus after leaving Barcelona as a free agent. He expects Javier Mascherano’s contract to be renewed soon and is confident that he will not leave the club. He even said that he is confident that the Turkish midfielder Arda Turan, who joined the club last summer from Athletico Madrid, will play much better this season and his level wil go up.
We just hope that it all turns well for Barcelona next season.
