I-League: Sporting Clube to face Pailan Arrows

I-League: Sporting Clube to face Pailan ArrowsMargao: Sporting Clube de Goa are seeking greater convertibility of the chances they create and know its the key to breaking down Pailan Arrows in their seventh round I-League clash at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Friday.

Sporting Clube have seven points from six matches and technical director Alex Alvares feels his team should have been better placed in the league standings.

“Look at the number of chances we create but we still end up with nothing. The strikers must convert chances. It’s the only way to move ahead,” said Alvares.

Sporting Clube now take on the might of Pailan Arrows, a team that Alvares believes will provide them fierce challenge. The Arrows side comprise of all junior footballers but the youngsters have, so far, given a good account of themselves.

“They are all fantastic players. They do a lot of running, press high and do not allow you time to breathe. We must be careful against them,” said the Sporting Clube technical director.

Sporting Clube notched up a 2-1 victory against United Sikkim in the last game and Alvares has called for a similar approach in the next clash.

“Except for the defence, I do not have any complaints. We will bring Keita (Boubacar) back in the starting eleven and he can help us a great deal. He has recovered from his injury and that is good news for us,” said Alvares.

Pailan Arrows have been one of the surprise packages of the league and Arthur Papas’ side will look for their first scalp in Goa. Their previous match here ended in a loss against defending champions Dempo Sports Club.
