India U19 an important milestone in Arjun’s career: Sachin Tendulkar

32933Before he went about breaking all the major batting records in international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, in his first-ever cricketing trials, turned up as a fast bowler. While that did not go as planned, his 18-year-old son has made it to the India U19 team as a fast bowler.

The All-India Junior Selection Committee picked him in the squad that will play two four-day games against hosts Sri Lanka. This is Arjun’s maiden call-up to the India U-19 side, which will be led by Anuj Rawat and coached by WV Raman. Arjun was part of the India U19 camp held recently in Dharamsala.

While he can bowl at a lively pace, Arjun is an all-rounder. He has batted and at No.3 and also in the middle-order.

The news of Arjun making it to the India U19 team naturally created a lot of buzz with social media going into a tizzy. The proud father who is currently in London was pleased to see his son make the cut.

“We are happy on Arjun being selected in India U-19 team. It is an important milestone in his cricketing life. Anjali (Tendulkar) and I will always support Arjun in his choices and pray for his success,” the Master said.
