LOS ANGELES: United States of America lifted the 2016/17 ICC World Cricket League Division 4 by beating Oman with a 13 runs margin in the final played at the Seven Cricket Field, Woodley Park here today. Both USA and Oman had already assured promotion to the Division 3 by qualifying for the final.

USA won the toss and decided to bat first. In the initial stages of the innings, their decision seemed to have backfired having lost three quick wickets. However, their middle and lower order batsmen did a remarkable job to rescue their team with disciplines batting.

With the openers Fahad Babar (1), Abdullah Syed (0) and RR Timbawala (0) were back into the pavilion and USA were struggling at 3 for 5 in 4.5 overs. Then the hosts were rescued by a 73-ball half century by Alex Amsterdam (50, 8x4, 1x6), Timroy Allen (45, 5x4s, 2x6s) and Jasdeep Singh (37 not out, 2x4s, 2x6s) to post 208 all out in 49.2 overs. RJ Ranpura (2 for 34), Mohammed Nadeem (2 for 29) and Zeeshan Maqsood 2 for 33) were the main wicket takers for Oman.

Facing a target of 209 for title victory, Oman lost opener A Poulose (4) at 10 in 3.3 overs. Khawar Ali, who was adjudged the Player of the Series, and Zeeshan Maqsood (15) carried the total to 43 before Khawar Ali (20) was caught by wicketkeeper Dodson of the bowling of Hutchinson. With the addition of eight runs Zeeshan also departed.

SS Khyade (22) and top scorer Zeeshan Siddiqui (58, 4x4s, 1x6) realised 51 runs for the fourth wicket. This partnership was broken by TK Patel who had Khadye caught by Allen, Mohammad Nadeem contributed 28 runs and Oman could muster only 195 for 9 in 50 overs.

Jasdeep Singh, who was adjudged the Player of the Match, and TK Patel got three wickets for 29 and 38 runs, respectively.

Denmark defeated Bermuda by 44 rins in the third place-play-off match.

In the fifth place play-off match, Jersey defeated Italy by 42 runs.
