TN struggle at 236 for 8 against Punjab

Chandigarh: Punjab restricted Tamil Nadu to 236 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 91 overs during Col CK Nayudu Trophy being held at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium, Patiala.
After winning the toss, Tamil Nadu skipper Kaushik M Gandhi opted to bat. He opened the innings but was soon disposed of at his individual score of four runs by medium pacer Siddharth Kaul as he misread his incoming delivery and was clean bowled while shouldering arm to the ball. Thereafter, Surya Parkash and Vijay Shankar put on 41 runs for the second wicket before Vijay was trapped in front by medium pacer Jaskaran Singh for 28. Tamil Nadu innings never got going and they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. At one stage, they were looking down the barrel having lost six wickets for just 118 runs in 40.3 overs.

Thereafter, seventh wicket partnership of 77 runs between Aprajith B and Pratiban AC took the total to 195 in 64.2 overs. Pratiban was the top scorer with 60, while Aprajith chipped in with 59. Surya scored 44 runs. Mohd M 21 and Ashwani Christ 9 were at the crease. They had put the shutters down as they laboured to 18 runs in 22 overs to remain unbeaten at the close of play.

For Punjab, Siddharth Kaul bowled a lively spell of sustained medium pace bowling scalping three wickets for 43 runs. He was ably supported by left arm spinner Amrinder Singh 2 for 52, Gurinder Singh 1 for 28 , Jaskaran Singh 1 for 28 and Kunwar Raina 1 for 26.
