JP Atray Tournament: Indian Oil drub BCA

J.P AtrayChandigarh: Ravi Kant Shukla smashed a brilliant unbeaten century to guide Indian Oil to 8 wickets win against Baroda Cricket Association with 17 balls to spare at GMSSS Sector 26, Chandigarh on the 2nd day of 19th All India J.P. Atray Memorial cricket Tournament for PEARLS Trophy.

Winning the toss Indian Oil opted to field. They were soon rewarded as medium pacer Balwinder Sandhu induced an edge from Saurabh Wakasar to wicket keeper Aditya Tare for 02. Dhiren Mistry and Jaikishan Kolsawala got their act together and added 88 valuable runs for the 2nd wicket before Kolsawala was run out by a throw from Siddesh Lad for a well made 49 off 66 balls including five boundaries.

Dhiren Mistry was involved in another fruitful partnership of 63 runs for the 4th wicket with Monil Patel before Mistry was caught and bowled by Vikrant Yeligeti for 85 off 107 balls laced with eight boundaries. Monil Patel was snapped by wicket keeper Aditya Tare off Medium Pacer Murtaza Hussen for 39 off 48 balls inclusive of 2 boundareis and one six.

It was then Abhijit Karambelkar smashed an unbeaten 47 off 27 balls studded with two boundaries and three huge sixes. Baroda innings finally ended at 258 for 6 in 50 overs. Vikrant Yeligeti 2 for 50 was the best bowler for Indian Oil.

In reply Indian Oil Corporation opened with Paresh Patel and Pinal Shah. Pinal Shah was soon back in the pavilion being caught by Saurabh Wakasar for 12.

Paresh Patel and Ravi Kant Shukla  stiched 147 runs for the 2nd wicket in 28.1 overs before Paresh Patel was caught by Wakasar off Meriwala for 77 off 96 balls inclusive of six boundaries and three huge sixes. At this stage former test star and captain of Indian Oil Wasim Jaffar joined Ravi Kant Shukla and the duo put on 115 runs unbeaten partnership for the third wicket to take their team to 8 wicket victory with 17 balls to spare. Ravi Kant Shukla remained unbeaten on 102 off 118 balls including boundaries and one six while Wasim Jaffer scored an unbeaten 56 off 55 bals inclusive of 6 delectable hits to the boundary.

Lukman Meriwala 2 for 55 was the most successful bowler for Indian Oil.

In the 2nd match played at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium between Maruti Suzuki and Madhya Pardesh. Maruti Suzuki won by 7 wickets to claim 5 points including a bonus while Madhya Pardesh got (-01). The match was reduced to 28 overs because of the wet outfield.

Maruti Suziki won the toss and elected to field and their decision paid rich dividends as they bundled out MPCA for 101 in 24.2 overs.

Jaffar Ali was the highest scorer with 18 runs. For Maruti Suzuki Abhishek 3 for 10, Yashpal Singh 2 for 7 and Deepak 2 for 25 did most of the damage.

Replying Maruti Suzuki scored 102 for 3 in 19.4 overs. Mukul Dagar scored a run a ball half century (54) off 53 balls inclusive of 4 boundaries and one six to ensure an easy win for his team. For his brilliant knock Mukul Dagar was named man of the match. Amarjeet 1 for 15, Rameez Khan 1 for 13 and Amitpal 1 for 6 were the wicket takers for MPCA.
