Sachin greatest ever to have played cricket: KP

KPNoida: England swashbuckling batsman Kevin Pietersen on Friday said that Sachin Tendulkar was the most magnificent and greatest player ever to have played cricket. KP, as he is fondly called, was interacting with the students of Amity University, Noida.

Responding to a question about his strategy for the next match where he will be playing against Mumbai Indians especially Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pietersen praised Sachin Tendulkar as the most magnificent and greatest player ever played.


“Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest ever to have played cricket. Sachin is a magnificent player. He is the greatest player ever played. In Twenty20, anything can happen. It's hard to predict result and we will try to win two points. I am not following any set strategy and will play as per the flow of the match. I hope that in the next match between Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians, the “Man of the Match” is be from Delhi Daredevils,” said Pietersen.

Talking about the best part about IPL, Kevin Pietersen said that IPL provides the players with an opportunity to share the dressing room with other international cricketers and players and befriend them rather than just being confined to a particular group.

KPReplying to a question regarding the difference between playing at Lords and Ferozshah Kotla, Kevin Pietersen said that the cheering of Delhi crowd, unlike the traditional crowd at Lords, is very loud, encouraging and inspiring.

When asked about his “inspiration in Cricket”, Kevin Pietersen instantly replied that he does not believe in following or emulating anybody and he always wants to be his own self. At the same time, he expressed his appreciation for few other cricketers including Jonty Rhodes, whom he enjoys to watch playing.

19-year-old Unmukt Chand when asked about the strategies he employs to make a mark amongst the team comprising of senior players, replied that he plays as an anchor to support the senior players rather than thinking and strategizing too much.

Kevin Pieterson was joined by other batsmen of the team, including Unmukt Chand, Manpreet Juneja and Aaron Finch. The cricketers interacted with the students and answered their questions and queries in a hall filled with over 500 cricket fans from Amity.
