Sai Praneeth stuns World No. 2 Yun Hu, Siana beats JuanSingapore: It was mixed day for Indians in Singapore as Sai Praneeth B stunned World No. 4 Yun Hu of Hong Kong in the first round of Singapore Super Series while Saina Nehwal advanced into the second round of the event here on Wednesday. However, all other Indians crashed out of the tournament.


Saina got the better of Juan Gu of Singapore 21-14, 23-21 in 40 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and will now take on Japanese Eriko Hirose.


Meanwhile Sai Praneeth, who is ranked world number 61, created an uspet by beating second seeded Yun 21-9 21-10 in a match that lasted 30 minutes.
 

Meanwhile, R M V Gurusaidutt, K Srikanth, Sourabh Varma, Anand Pawar and Ajay Jayaram went down fighting against their respective opponents in the men's singles opening round.
 

In other women's singles, Arundhati Pantawane lost to world number 26 Bulgarian Petya Nedelcheva 18-21 18-21, while PC Thulasi was beaten by world number 14 Indonesian Lindaweni Faetri 23-21 16-21 16-21.


In mixed doubles, India's Tarun Kona and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir 6-21 10-21, while Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan could not get past the Thai combo of Songphon Anugritayawon and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul.


The women's doubles pair of Aparna Balan and Siki Reddy N to lost their match 21-18 18-21 6-21 against Malaysian pair of Meng Yean Lee and Yin Loo Lim.
