Klitschko beats Mormeck to defend WBA & IBF heavyweight titles

Dusseldorf: Wladimir Klitschko defeated French challenger Jean-Marc Mormeck to defend his WBA and IBF heavyweight titles in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday night.

Klitschko played his power game in the ring to dominate his opponent, and it worked. After a left-right combination from Klitschko followed by a short left, Mormeck hit the canvas. Even though he was able the beat referee’s count, he still was staggering in the ring. Luis Pabon, referee, immediately stopped the fight and Klitschko was declared the winner.

It should be noted here that this knockout by Klitschko was his career’s 50th knockout. Before the fight, Klitschko had iterated that Mormeck would be tough to deal with, however analysts had already predicted that the latter does not have a chance against Klitschko and he will not stay for more than four rounds, and so it happened.
